1. Applied Sport Psychology: 2 Day Short Course

Wondering what it takes to perform at the highest level or being resilient when you are out of sporting action due to sporting injuries? Join us for 2 days of exciting discovery! … Learn how to harness the hidden powers of the human mind to (a) achieve peak performance, and (b) facilitate the healing of the injured athletic body!

This 2-full day course, uses a multi-modal approach to learning via mini-lectures, hands-on activities and exercises, small group interactive discussions, mini oral presentations, and case-based scenario discussions. Participants will:

  • Gain essential knowledge and skills to assess, plan and conduct mental skills training in their chosen sport

  • Apply mental skills for injury rehabilitation and recovery

  • Teach mental skills to others in an interactive, engaging way

This interactive course is organized in partnership with Ngee Ann Polytechnic CET Academy. 70% or more grant funding available (T&C apply)!  NROC Coaches can earn up to 10 CCE units.  You may register for the course here.

2. Certified Active Lifestyle Motivation (C.A.L.M.) Coach  
Lifestyle diseases and cancers are often attributed to sedentary and poor lifestyle habits. Almost every adult knows that being active and eating well are key to greater health. But how come they are still not able to follow through on their new year resolutions?  .... There is a missing link in all of this!

This science-based course will empower you to be more effective in assessing, inspiring, and coaching different target groups toward a more active and healthier lifestyle!  Specifically, you will learn:

  • Understand the scientific bases of active lifestyles and exercise motivation

  • Identify clients’ various obstacles to adopting a healthy lifestyle

  • Use assessment and measurement tools to understand client personalities, motivational styles, and lifestyle status

  • Apply Motivational Coaching Conversations to support client’s behavioural change

  • Apply evidence-based cognitive-behavioural strategies to promote and support adherence to active lifestyles

  • Understand the unique needs of different special populations, such as the elderly, post-injury, pregnant women, eating disorders


Note:  This is a non-clinical course; coaches will be taught to refer out to clinical specialists for some conditions.

3. Certified Mental Toughness Coach & Facilitator (USA)

The Mental Toughness Profile is based on the latest research on the unique mental toughness qualities of elite performers in various high-performance domains. It is designed to be used in consultation with a Certified Mental Toughness Coach &/or Facilitator. It is used to evaluate a client's or coachee's mental strengths and areas for improvement in the following five key competencies:
 

  • Composure 
    – Staying calm and relaxed in any pressure situation

  • Concentration 
    – Focusing on performing and ignoring distractions when it matters

  • Confidence 
    – Believing and trusting in one's capabilities

  • Cope-ability (aka Coping with Challenges)
    – Overcoming adversities and setbacks well

  • Cohesion 
    – Giving and receiving social support to and from others

In each profile report, you will find

  • a summary chart of one's scores on the respective mental toughness
    competencies,

  • a description and explanation of one's individualized scores, and

  • practical and evidence-based strategies and exercises to help further
    strengthen one's mental toughness.

​

A Certified Mental Toughness Facilitator is trained to deliver informational, interactive workshops, while a Certified Mental Toughness Coach is trained to conduct follow-up one-to-one or one-to-small group coaching sessions.

4. Certified KiDS Multi-Sport Coach

The World​ Health Organization (WHO) recently conducted a research study and found that 4 out of 5 youths of the world today are not physically active enough. There are also other studies that show that kids who are physically active in their early years are more likely to be physically active when they become adults. Both these major research findings have got major long-term health implications for the whole world! 

​

As such, we developed this specially designed course for concerned parents, preschool teachers and sport coaches.  We train course participants to be able to develop a young child's passion for an active lifestyle through multi-sport exposure! 

  • Understand the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) principles for a lifetime of sporting and active lifestyles

  • Conduct a full battery of locomotor and object control Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) assessments for children aged 3 to 10 years old

  • Manage group tests and their results, via the world’s first and most comprehensive FMS Assessment Portal and Software App System 

  • Design and plan year-long, multi-sport coaching programmes for children aged 3 to 10 years old.

  • Plan and implement age-appropriate, FMS-based multi-sport lesson plans for children
